Oh, How He Loves You And Me
I spent many years of my life being afraid of God. I was afraid of His punishment if I did something wrong or didn’t do something I should have done. I was afraid to trust Him because I didn’t really know Him and His heart. Today, I am well along on my love journey with God and have had the wonderful joy of getting to know Him, His character, His love and His heart.
Each one of us was created for a love relationship with Father God and His desire, since before we were born, was to have an intimate relationship with us. He created us to know Him as our Father, to trust Him as our Daddy and to yield ourselves to His love in total abandonment the way a young child delights in her father’s provision, attention and love. I remember taking family trips when I was young and I never once thought about asking my daddy if he knew where he was taking us, if he had enough gas and money to get us there or if he had secured a place for us to stay. I trusted him to take care of all that and I just enjoyed the journey with anticipation for our destination. That’s now the way my relationship is with God - I trust Him and am enjoying my journey in life with anticipation of where He is taking me.
As the mother of three and grandmother of eight, I have watched my little ones delight in the adoration of their parents and have done some major adoring on my part! I love to watch my children and grands even when they’re not doing anything special. I love to watch them sleeping when they’re little and I delight in all their accomplishments whether great or small. I believe we are loved and adored by the Father in much the same way. No matter what we do or don’t do, He never stops loving us and desiring an intimate relationship with us. Once we get a vision of the Father’s extravagant, unconditional love for us, it changes us and gives us the opportunity to be fully devoted to Him. The Bible states that “we love Him because He first loved us.” He is the initiator, we are the responders to His love. When we really know His love and trust Him it frees us to enjoy being His child and that is a wonderful, life-changing thing!
